Treat Tuesday #171 (Happy Book Birthday)

Treat Tuesday:  Sweet and Salty White Chocolate Popcorn

*My daughter actually brought this recipe to my attention.  

*She was at a gathering and it was served and she said it was so YUMMY!

*We are hoping to give it a try over the Christmas break.   

 

Ingredients:

5 cups plain popcorn, popped
1 (11 oz) bag white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening
1 cup M & M's chocolate candies
1 cup mini pretzels
1/2 cup salted peanuts

 

Directions:

Pour popcorn into a large bowl.  Mix in the M&M's, pretzels, and peanuts.

Spread out on a large cookie sheet.

Dump white chocolate chips and shortening into a microwave-safe bowl.

Cook for 45 seconds, remove from microwave, and stir.

Continue cooking at 25 second intervals, stirring each time, until chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

Drizzle chocolate over popcorn mixture and gently mix until most pieces are covered with chocolate.
