The Invisible Boy by Alyssa Hollingsworth

How I Heard About It:
*This novel was supposed to be released in June of 2020, but has been delayed until September 8th of 2020.  I think many titles are being pushed back because of Coronavirus.  A member of #bookexpedition shared and mailed the book to me.

What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:
1.  *Nadia is a young girl who spends time living out her dreams through the pages of superhero stories.

2.  *When her beloved dog is saved during a storm, Nadia finds herself in a new superhero story.

3.  *She doesn't know the name of the boy who saved her dog, but she dubs him "invisible boy" because he seems to appear out of nowhere and disappear just as quick.

4.  *Much to her delight, Nadia gets to know "invisible boy" and begins to share the world of "superheroes" with him.

5.  *When Nadia uncovers a secret about "invisible boy", she realizes she may need to find super powers that she never knew she possessed.

What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
1.  *I'm not sure how to classify the story:  fiction, fantasy, adventure, mystery?  Maybe a little of each.

2.  *I enjoyed the story and thought Nadia was a strong, independent, and unique character.

3.  *The mystery that surrounded "invisible boy" kept me interested, engaged, and turning the pages faster and faster.

4.  *I must say the cover and book blurb did not convey the seriousness and revelations that were uncovered throughout the story.

5.  *The author did a fantastic job of portraying a difficult subject matter in a very kid friendly way.

Who Should Read It:
*Readers in grades five and/or six would be perfect for the 300-page novel.  They would be interested in the characters, story line, and be able to handle the seriousness of the content.  I would also recommend the book for middle-school students.  Happy Reading!
