Clues to the Universe by Christina Li

How I Heard About It:
*While browsing Audible I came across this title and decided to download it as the book has been on my radar for quite some time.  The listening was enjoyable, engaging, and entertaining.

What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:
*Benjamin (Benji) is a young boy who loves comics.  He also doesn't have a relationship with his father.

*Rosalind (Ro) is a young girl who loves science.  She is grieving the loss of her father.

*After a mix-up of notebooks during class, Benji and Ro become friends.

*Not only do they begin a new friendship, they embark on a science project each bringing their own talents.

*When Ro suggests Benji locate his father, the two of them find similarities and differences in how they want to go about the quest.

What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
*Ro and Benji were wonderful characters to meet, get to know, and root for.

*Each one brought such life and energy to the adventure they embark on.

*I enjoyed how the author presented the friendship as not all roses and smiles. As with any friendship, old or young, there are ups and downs.

*The story flowed from page to page and left me wanting to read/listen to "one" more chapter.

*The themes of friendship, grief, and understanding the world around them.

Who Should Read It:
*Clues to the Universe would fit perfectly in any fourth, fifth, or sixth grade classroom.  The story would make for a strong class read aloud and/or a novel to put in the hands of an individual reader.  I can't imagine any young reader not enjoying the adventures of Ro and Benji.  Happy Reading!
