Jennifer Chan Is Not Alone by Tae Keller

How I Heard About It:
*I received this ARC in the mail from Penguin Random House.  I'm a lucky reader to get some of their advanced copies of upcoming middle-grade books.

What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:
*Mallory knows it is important to follow the "rules" of middle-school.

*Her friend Reagan has shown her the ropes and shared what is important and what should be stayed away from.

*When Mallory meets the new girl, Jennifer, everything she has known and been "taught" comes into question.

*Jennifer is her own person, doesn't care about what others think, and believes in aliens.

*When Jennifer goes missing, Mallory and her friends, begin a search that will reveal secrets about themselves, their friendships, and what is truly important in the world.

What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
*I had enjoyed Tae Keller's earlier works of fiction, so looked forward to reading her newest book.

*I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the mystery surrounding Jennifer's disappearance.

*There were some difficult scenes to read, but then again middle-school can be challenging for many young people.

*The writing was top-notch and held my attention for the entire reading experience.

*This was quite a different type of story from the author's earlier novels, which shows the talent she holds.

Who Should Read It:
*If you have read any of Tae Keller's earlier stories, I think you will find this an enjoyable and powerful read.  I do think it will draw a female audience more than the male reader because the group of friends are primarily girls.  Happy Reading!
