The Inheritance by Trisha Sakhlecha

How I Came Across It... *A book clubber I follow on Instagram picked this novel for his online book club. I decided to give it a try and listen via Audible. What It's About - Five Things You Need to Know... *A family gathers, on a remote island they own, for a family reunion.

*The father, head of the family, is ready to announce to the family who is going to take over the million-dollar family business.

*He has a wife and three children who are all looking at the "inheritance" in different ways.

*As the family spends time together, past events keep coming to the surface and causes friction among the members.

*When a family member ends up dead on the island, everyone looks to everyone else, to see who is to blame.

What I Thought of It - Five Observations/Reflections... *A slow start and I wasn't sure what all the hype about the story was.

*I kept at it, and did find myself drawn into the family story, but I wasn't always that invested.

*It was interesting to learn about their personal backgrounds, but again had a bit of a hard time relating to each member of the family.

*The main "action" (murder) didn't happen until toward the end of the novel which I kept waiting for.

*It was a long read to get to the "bulk" of the story.

Who Should Read It... *This novel published for adults, was well written, but a bit slow for my taste. Readers who enjoy family dramas, with a bit of mystery and intrigue, will be drawn into the story. Happy Reading! Rating... 3 out of 5 stars
