Theo of Golden by Allen Levi

How I Came Across It...
*When I need an escape from the difficult world, I find myself scrolling through TikTok.  I have started to follow "bookstagram" folks on Twitter and have enjoyed getting new book recommendations and "meeting" new people online.  The more I scrolled, the more I kept seeing this self-published novel called Theo of Golden.  I decided to purchase a copy and see what this story was all about that many readers on TikTok were raving about.

What It's About - Five Things You Need to Know... *The small town of Golden, Georgia is the setting for this personal and touching story.

*Theo, an elderly man from New York, arrives in Golden and remains there for the next year.

*While in town, Theo goes to the local coffee shop where he notices a series of portraits throughout the shop.

*He makes it his mission to purchase the portraits and gift them to the people in the pictures.

*Over the next year, he meets a wide range of unique, special, and interesting people. Not only are their lives touches, but his life also. What I Thought of It - Five Observations/Reflections... *I started reading the book as soon as it arrived in the mail, but I wasn't engaged right away so I put it down and continued another novel I was reading.

*As I kept seeing readers posting about the story online, I picked the book back up and started again. This time I was in.

*I'm a reader who needs a lot of "action", "stuff", or "huge events" in a story. This novel did not have that, but I still found myself enjoying the story that unfolded as I read.

*Theo is a character that I won't soon forget. We need more people like him in the world.

*The story is powerful, touching, emotional, and highlights that way humans should all treat each other. In our current world, this was the perfect story for me to spend time with and carry with me as I move forward in the world. Who Should Read It... *From what I can see online, most readers are enjoying the story of Theo, Golden, and the portraits. It is a different kind of plot, but I can't imagine anyone not taking something from the story that they could apply to their own lives. Happy Reading! Rating... 4 out of 5 stars
