How I Came Across It... It seems like this is one of the "IT" books of 2024. I downloaded the title via Audible and enjoyed listening to Kristin Hannah's newest work of historical fiction for several weeks. What It's About - Five Things You Need to Know... 1. Francis (Frankie) has always wanted to be "someone" and make her parents proud.
2. She decides to go to nursing school and finds herself in the middle of the VietnamWar.
3. Frankie isn't ready for what she has to endure in the war, but finds she has a special talent for nursing.
4. Upon her return, she tried to acclimate herself back into society, but finds it isn't easy.
5. With the support of friends, and substances, Frankie tries to move forward and put the war behind her.
What I Thought of It - Five Observations/Reflections...
1. The narration was quite well done and I enjoyed listening to the voices as I drove to and from work.
2. Reading about Frankie and her experiences in the war were interesting and thought provoking.
3. The real story started with Frankie's return after the war. I enjoyed the several surprises that came along the way.
4. The writing was top-notch, and the plot was solid.
5. All of the characters were authentic, heart-warming, and added greatly to the overall story.
Who Should Read It...
I think most adult readers will find this a most satisfying read and enjoying entering the world of a Kristin Hannah novel. Happy Reading!
