"Back to School"
*Besides making sure my students read every day, we also write everyday.
*My fourth graders and I keep a writer's notebook and we add entries each and every writing time.
*Each Wednesday I post a photograph for the class to observe and write about.
*After revealing the picture, we "discuss" for a bit as a group.
*The writers then get busy writing. They can write about the picture, what it reminds them of, connections they have to it, or create a fiction story based on the image.
*Our actual writing time can last anywhere from 5-10 minutes.
*At the end of this mini-lesson, a few of the writers share out what they wrote in their notebook.
*Happy Writing!
