*After viewing a video by my friend Colby Sharp, fifth grade teacher in Michigan, I decided to read this book. He shared how he was going to read the second book in the series to his class this fall. I read the book and decided I would start with this first book and if we like it as a class, we will read the second book in the series.
What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:
1. *This time is it all about Rowley Jefferson. Or maybe it isn't?
2. *Rowley starts a journal about his life, which ends up being about his friendship with Greg Heffley.
3. *When Greg finds out Rowley is writing his autobiography, he convinces him to write a biography of the one and only Greg Heffley.
4. *Rowley recounts the many adventures he and Greg shared. Both the positive and negative.
5. *No matter what has happened between these two boys, Rowley knows he has found a best friend in Greg.
What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
1. *This was an easy, fast, and fun read.
2. *The book was perfect to end my summer 2020 reading before starting the school year.
3. *I haven't read a Wimpy Kid book for quite some time, so the reading experience was a complete joy.
4. *Hearing Rowley's voice and learning his perspective was fun, fresh, and full of voice.
5. *I know this is going to be the perfect read aloud to start the very different school year of 2020/2021.
Who Should Read It:
*The first book in the two book series would be perfect for fans of Wimpy Kid. Readers in grades three through six would be ideal for the story. The plot is light, fun, and perfect to get young readers back into the swing of school and into their reading lives. Happy Reading!
