*Our second read aloud this year was a new novel for me. After meeting Abby Cooper and reading her debut book, I knew I wanted to share it with my students.
*After we finished the story, we were lucky to host Abby for an afternoon in our classroom.
*The students were so excited to meet the author in person and talk with her.
*We had the chance to hear background information about how Abby got her novel published and her life as a writer.
*My students also shared comments and asked questions about Sticks and Stones.
*One highlight might have been sharing our pink and green cupcakes with Abby.
*Before Abby was done for the day, she left us with a copy of Bubbles. This is her upcoming novel which will be published in July 2017.
*This is our current read aloud and we hope Abby will visit again after we finish it.
