How I Heard About It:
*The good people of PRH (Penguin Random House) sent me an ARC of this upcoming middle-grade novel. The story will be released in August of 2022.
What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:
*Addie lives with her mother and step-father. There is a new baby on the way.
*After her step-father proposes he adopt Addie, she begins to have questions about her biological father.
*With the help of her best friend, the girls begin to search for clues about who her father is, where he is, and why he isn't a part of her life.
*Addie finds herself at a New Mexico ranch with a family of wrestlers.
*While spending time with this very different group of people, Addie questions what truly makes a family and where she belongs.
What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
*After reading both of Perez's earlier works, I was looking forward to seeing what her newest story entailed.
*It was quite interesting to read about a family of wrestlers, their personalities, and what drove them to success in their industry.
*I so enjoyed the characters in Addie's life, both with her mother's side of the family, and her father's eccentric group.
*The theme/message/life lesson of family and where we belong was a strong draw for me.
*Addie is a character I won't soon forget. She was likable, strong, and determined.
Who Should Read It:
*The novel is at 350 pages so the story might be best suited for readers in grades five and six. Of course, it will be perfect for the middle-school reader. If you know of any young readers who are drawn to the world of wrestling, this just may be the story for them. Happy Reading!
