Big Rig by Louise Hawes

How I Heard About It:
*This ARC came to me via my Twitter #bookexpedition reading group.  The story will be released on August 9, 2022.

What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:

*Hazel doesn't have your typical life as she lives with just her father and they live on the "open road".

*Since she was old enough, she and her dad have lived in Leonardo, which is their 18-wheeler.

*As they travel across the country, they begin to discuss if the life of truckers will come to an end because of technology and robots.

*Hazel doesn't want her life to change so she hatches a plan to keep them "truckin".

*While implementing her plan, Hazel and dad come across several interesting, unique, and special people along their path.

What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
*I was excited to read the story based on the title and cover.  Both just drew me in.

*Overall, I enjoyed the story of Hazel and her dad on the open road.  It was certainly interesting to think about living life in this manner.

*There were a few events that I thought were a bit unrealistic and/or forced; but it didn't distract from the overall enjoyment of the story.

*I loved the support system the dad put in place for his daughter.  Their friends back at "home" were the best.

*There wasn't a whole lot of "meaty" stuff that occurred, but it can be nice to read a story where nothing heartbreaking and/or tragic happens.

Who Should Read It:
*Perfect story for readers in grades three, four, and five.  Of course the middle-school student would also be ideal for the "road trip".  Happy Reading!
