How I Heard About It
*I have been wanting to read this book since before it was released in April of 2023. I was thrilled when the publisher sent me a copy of the beautiful novel. I have loved all of Brian Selznick's books so I was quite excited to read his newest work of fiction.
What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:
*Louise are Merwin are sibling Sycamore seeds.
*They have spent their life in a pod with their mother and other siblings.
*After being separated from their mother, the two young seeds set off an on epic adventure.
*They search for a place to lay "roots" but find it difficult to do so in a wide, open and scary world.
*Each seed has his/her own view of the world and where and when they will finally fit where they truly belong.
What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
*No one can create a story quite like Brian Selznick.
*As with his other novels, I was struck by the beauty of the illustrations and how they told the story just as much as the text.
*The story of Louise and Merwin was engaging, thoughtful, and heart-warming.
*Brian told a brilliant story with themes of protecting our Earth, life is precious, and we need to protect what we have.
*This is the type of story that a reader will revisit and always gleam something new from the previous read.
Who Should Read It:
*Everyone! This is the type of story for both the young and older reader. Absolutely beautiful. Happy Reading!
