*I am thrilled to make an exciting announcement here on my blog.
*After attending #NerdCampMI for the last four summers and hearing about many other #NerdCamps popping up across the country, a group of us decided it was time for Minnesota to get in on the professional development.
*A small group of teachers, authors, and illustrators met on Monday, August 12th to get the ball rolling and put #NerdCampMN into action.
*We met at Open Book which is located in downtown Minneapolis. The group spent about two hours discussion our mission, vision, and dreams for a #NerdCamp right here in the Twin Cities area.
*This task can seem overwhelming, but we are up to the challenge in order to promote literacy (reading, writing, speaking) for all that would like to join us for a day of authentic professional development.
*The committee has set the date of Monday, August 3, 2020 that we will meet, learn, and grow from each other. One goal we have is to keep this day small, manageable, and meaningful.
*The location has not be set yet, but know that it will be in a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
*We are also working on bringing in some well-known speakers to serve as keynote, Nerd Talk, and/or breakout session leaders.
*There will be a #NerdCampMN website, Twitter Handle, and Instagram Account where we will share information as we progress through the next year. I will share that information when I receive it.
*I'm so excited for this venture and can't wait to share maybe half of what I have gained from my experience in Parma, Michigan.
