Thanks A Lot, Universe by Chad Lucas

How I Heard About It:
*Somewhere along the line, I was granted access to this E-Galley.  While on vacation in Mexico at the end of March, I read the middle-grade story and so enjoyed it.  The book will be released on May 11, 2021.

What It Is About - FIVE Things You Need to Know:
*Brian doesn't have an easy time of it.  He struggles with anxiety, fitting in, and pleasing his parents.

*Ezra is in Brian's class and on the same basketball team.  Everyone likes Ezra and he likes everyone in return.

*When Ezra notices Brian pulling back, he sets out to find out what he can do to help his friend.

*The other boys on the team can't quite figure out why Ezra is being so nice to Brian, and Ezra wants to keep it that way.

*When Brian runs away, Ezra must face challenges in life that he never imagined he would need to experience.

What I Thought Of It - Five Observations/Reflections:
*This was such an incredible read and I pretty much read it during one sunny day by the pool.

*Ezra and Brian were such authentic characters and each brought so much to the story.

*I enjoyed how the author portrayed both boys as multifaceted characters and didn't use any stereotypes.

*The plot moved along at a perfect and beautiful pace and kept my interest the entire reading experience.

*Chad Lucas' writing was incredible and he presented a story that will be so important to many young readers.

Who Should Read It:
*I would put this upcoming novel in all fifth and sixth grade classrooms, along with the middle-school library.  Readers in grades give through eight would be perfect for the story of Ezra and Brian.  Happy Reading!
