The End of Loneliness by Benedict Wells

How I Came Across It... *During 2024 I began to follow more "book" people via the socials. I came across @booksaresick and enjoyed his posts about books and his reading life. After he raved about this particular novel, I bought myself a copy and enjoyed reading during my holiday vacation of 2024. What It's About - Five Things You Need to Know... *This German novel centers around the siblings Jules, Marty, and Liz.

*After the death of their parents, they are sent to live at a boarding school where each child has their own unique experience at the school.

*The story centers mostly around the youngest sibling, Jules, and his friendship with a another students named Alva.

*After a conflict, the two friends each leave the school and go out into the world to carve their past.

*Years later, the two come back into each other's lives and get to know each other all over again. What I Thought of It - Five Observations/Reflections... *I'm glad I bought of copy of the novel and enjoyed reading it. This is a story I would never have found on my own. That is why it has been enjoyable following new readers online which has helped me venture into new genres of stories.

*The writing was quite beautifully and even though the plot moved along a bit slow for my taste, I still found myself interested in the story of the three siblings and their lives.

*As I turned page after page, I found myself truly getting to know Jules, and the other characters, and caring for them almost like they were actual people in my life.

*A few sections of the story flowed a little slow and I found myself skimming these parts, I was then brought back into the story by an event and/or emotion that was presented by the author.

*This was quite a sad story, but overall left me a feeling of hope and what people truly must endure in their lives.

Who Should Read It... *Thinking back on the novel, I believe most adult readers will find this a powerful and emotional reading experience. It is not an action-packed story, but one in which the reader will get to know a family and the ways in which they deal with difficult and heart-wrenching situations. I will continue to follow @booksaresick to get more recommendations of stories I wouldn't normally find on my own. Happy Reading!
